We interrupt our RV trip for a week spent with kids and grandkids in an eight-bedroom rental house in Kissimmee. For us, moving out of our RV bed is rare during a trip, but we’ve done it a few times for this same reason.
We started this tradition a few years ago – replacing traditional Christmas gift-giving with a week-long family vacation at a location where there’s plenty for all to do -whether that’s separately or apart. We’ve done this four times now and, because of the ages of the kids and the budget we set out, we’ve chosen Kissimmee every time.
Splitting the cost of an 8-bedroom rental (here’s the one we chose) is actually quite reasonable when shared four ways. A fully equipped house allows us to share groceries and prepare our own meals, which is a big saving, too. We’ve stayed in three different houses over the years, all of them alike, and within a few miles of Disney and the other major parks.
These houses are all built to be rentals, all in gated communities, and have every amenity a family like ours could want or need, allowing plenty of room to spread out or be together.
Rather than explain how we filled our time this week, I’ll add a few photos to give you the general idea.
It was a magical time.
Now, we return to our regular programming, folks. Next week’s post will see us back in the RV and on the move again.
